Accepted Payment Methods

Payments are processed through Braintree, a PayPal service that is PCI DSS Level 1 compliant. Your card details are encrypted and sent directly to Braintree for processing. We do not store your credit card data on our servers; our system receives the information needed to record the payment and update your order.

We accept the following payment methods:

  • Credit and debit cards: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, and JCB
  • PayPal: Pay using your PayPal balance, linked bank account, or saved cards
  • Apple Pay: Pay using Apple Pay where available on your browser or device
  • Google Pay: Pay using Google Pay where available on your browser or device
  • ACH Direct Debit: Available for invoiced business customers
  • Wire transfer: Available for invoiced business customers
  • Company check: Available for invoiced business customers

Saving Payment Methods

To speed up future checkouts, you can save your payment methods to your account. This is especially useful for repeat customers and team accounts placing frequent orders.

Once saved, you can:

  • Store multiple cards, PayPal accounts, Apple Pay cards, Google Pay cards, or bank accounts securely
  • Mark one payment method as your default for automatic selection during checkout
  • Easily switch or remove saved methods from your payment settings

Saved payment methods use the Braintree Vault, a PCI DSS Level 1-compliant tokenization system. Braintree stores the payment details and gives us a payment method identifier, or token, that we can use for future charges. Your actual card number, CVV, and bank account details are not stored on our servers.

Business Invoicing

Approved business accounts can request invoicing for regular or high-volume translation work. Instead of paying for each order separately, your team can combine charges into a monthly invoice. This gives you one place to review translation spending, track charges across team orders, and manage payment.

Flexible payment terms like Net 15 or Net 30 are available upon approval, and invoices can be paid by credit/debit card, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, ACH, wire, or check.

Invoicing is also required for API integrations. If your company uses our API to submit orders programmatically, your business account must have invoicing enabled.

To get started, create a business account and request invoicing from Business Settings. For details, see Billing and Invoicing for Business Accounts.

ACH Bank Payments

ACH Direct Debit allows you to pay invoices directly from your U.S. bank account. This payment option is available for business customers with invoicing enabled.

To add a bank account, go to your account payment methods and select "Bank account (ACH)". You'll need to provide your routing and account numbers along with some additional information to verify your account.

Before you can use a bank account for payments, it must be verified. We support two verification methods:

  • Instant verification: If your bank supports it, verification happens immediately when you add the account. Most major banks support this feature.
  • Micro-deposit verification: If instant verification isn't available, two small deposits (under $1.00 each) will appear in your bank account within 1-2 business days. These transactions will appear as "PayPal" on your statement. Once you see them, return to your payment methods page to enter the exact deposit amounts and complete verification.

Once your bank account is verified, it will appear as a payment option when paying invoices. Select your saved bank account and confirm the payment. ACH payments typically take 3-5 business days to settle.

Payment Timing and Currency

  • Payments are charged immediately after you submit your order. We do not offer pay-later options unless you're set up with business invoicing.
  • All pricing is in U.S. dollars (USD). If you're paying with an international card, your bank will convert the charge to your local currency. Exchange rates and foreign transaction fees are set by your card issuer.

Receipts and Billing Details

  • A receipt is automatically emailed to you after a successful payment or refund.
  • You can also download your receipt at any time from your order status page.
  • If you're using business invoicing, admins can update billing contact, billing address, and tax ID from Business Settings.

Tax and Fees

  • Sales tax is not typically charged on translation services, but may apply depending on your jurisdiction. Any taxes will be calculated and displayed at checkout.
  • If your organization is tax-exempt, contact us before placing your order so we can update your account.

Common Payment Issues

If a payment is declined, check the billing details and the message shown at checkout. The table below explains common reasons for a decline and what to review before trying again or contacting your bank:

Issue Description
AVS mismatch The billing ZIP code must match what your card issuer has on file. This is one of the most common reasons for declined transactions.
CVV mismatch The card security code must be entered exactly as it appears on your card. A single incorrect digit will cause the payment to fail.
Insufficient funds Make sure your account or card has enough available credit or balance to cover the full amount of the order.
Suspected fraud Occasionally, your bank may block a transaction they suspect is unusual or high-risk. If all payment details are correct, contact your bank to authorize the transaction before trying again.

Fraud Prevention

We will never ask you to send card or bank account details by email or over the phone. Enter payment information only through the secure payment forms on our website. We also use the following checks to identify suspicious transactions and protect customers:

  • All transactions are screened for suspicious activity.
  • We may request verification for high-value or high-risk orders before processing.
  • Fraudulent use of payment methods will result in immediate cancellation and may be reported to the relevant payment networks or authorities.

Refund Policy

Refund eligibility depends on the order's status, the work already completed, and the reason for the request. Translation is a custom service, so cancellation and refund conditions can differ before and after work begins. Our refund policy explains those conditions and how requests are reviewed.

If a refund is approved, it may take 3–5 business days for the funds to appear in your account, depending on your bank or card issuer.
